'The Red Critique' aims at red-ing social and cultural theory for new revolutionary praxis. It will publish biannually theoretical essays engaging issues from labor to sexuality; from (cyber)colonialism to emerging forms of fascism; from health care and the welfare-state to "globalization"; as well as short essays providing Marxist analysis of the "daily": interpretation of major events, films, exhibitions of paintings and photography, trends in popular culture, music and fashion, and discussion of television and emerging forms of communication and identities on the "web." 'The Red Critique' invites texts which critique-ally engage with the economics, politics, and culture of contemporary capitalism from a Marxist internationalist perspective which is neither "nostalgic" for the past, evasive of the struggles of the present, nor interested in simply fantasizing about a utopian future, but which can provide transformative understandings of contemporary social practices in all spheres of the social.

Marxist Theory - Mailinglists

Marxism List
The primary purpose of the Marxism List is to gather together Marxists internationally who are dedicated to a non-dogmatic approach to issues of the class struggle today. Marxism has always been confronted with the problem of avoiding stale formulas handed down from previous generations. This new list is consciously designed to cut across that tendency. We will challenge ourselves on a daily basis to understand social reality without preconceptions. As Marx himself once said, he was no 'Marxist'. This remains our challenge. Despite the name of the mailing list, we must resist the temptation to turn the powerful method of Marx into some sort of revealed truth. This link will get you to the Marxism List home page where you can join the list.
M-D-W-S Note: The "Marxism List" was previously a part of the "Spoon Collective".

Marxism-and-Sciences List
The purpose of the Marxism-and-Sciences List is to foster useful discussions about the intersection of marxism and the various sciences. Developments within the sciences have implications for our understanding of marxism. Marxism has influenced the development of some sciences, such as anthropology and the social sciences. A marxian approach is also helpful in understanding developments within natural science, and we need to understand, learn from and use science in the attempt to consciously design human ecology, i.e. our relations with the world around us.

Marxism-International List
The purpose of the Marxism-International List is to facilitate general discussion of Marxism, with an eye toward enabling the participation of people from all around the world, and toward fostering and developing activism. It is an open, nonsectarian list, inviting participation from every kind of Marxist and revolutionary thought.
M-D-W-S Note: The "Marxism-International List" was previously a part of the "Spoon Collective".

Marxism-Thaxis
Marxism-Thaxis List is an open and moderated forum for the discussion of theoretical issues raised in both the work of Karl Marx and, more generally, the tradition(s) that work has inspired. In keeping with Marx's own attempts to bridge the gap between theory and praxis, Marxism-thaxis encourages participants to explore the theoretical and practical implications of issues raised in this forum.
M-D-W-S Note: The "Marxism-Thaxis" list was previously a part of the "Spoon Collective".
